I am writing from America at an event where we are watching a speech by your President. I want to let you know that you are not alone, that even the hardest times pass, and that you and your country have the support of people all over the world. You are in our thoughts, and there are so many people here that are supporting Ukraine. I have a friend who works at my company who is from Kyiv and has asked people here to help gather supplies that will help with the fight and make your lives better. He has flown twice to Poland to bring these supplies over the border into Ukraine, and he has received an so much support. In big ways and small, I hope it will brighten your day to hear that you have friends you have never met!

Having born in the State of Gujrat in India during the 1960s, it was always a tough think for me as a child to have to deal with the worn torn region we lived in (Not nearly as bad as the regions in the Ukraine are currently dealing with). To the people of Ukraine, stay strong, brave and positive as this war too shell come to an end. This is a very scary time when there is a conflict in your country. There are many unknowns. Just know that you are a strong person and know what is right. Think back to your favourite times, family members, friends who make you laugh. It will guide you until everything improves.

Young people attending Crofton Youth Project want to show support and solidarity to the young people of Ukraine with the following messages –

Our charity, Unique Community Charity works with many people from Ukraine and other conflict zones across the world and we are all too aware how terribly war affects children and young people. We are in contact with parents and friends who are stuck in the middle of something truly terrifying. We cannot imagine how hard it must be to stay strong but we are with you.

We support the people fighting for their freedom and are amazed by the courage the country is showing. We are praying for a resolution soon, all of our hearts are with you.

TOKKO Youth Space, Luton, U.K. stands united with the young people of the Ukraine. The blight of war and military actions on Ukrainian civilians has devastated us as a youth charity in the U.K. Ukraine young people have already been injured or killed.

We understand the long-term impact this war and conflict will have on young people’s rights, life, development, well-being. and that these adverse implications will be felt by many young people both now and for future years to come.

Above all young people need peace, safety and hope. TOKKO will support young people affected by this conflict and crisis both now and in the future. We show our solidarity with the young people of the Ukraine.

I hear that every challenge we face is an opportunity to become more than we’ve ever been before. Stay strong young people and youth workers of Ukraine. I cannot relate to what you are going through or even begin to imagine but something that I have seen and confident of posting here is that the people of Ukraine show courage and strength in the masses. This is not your choice, yet you choose to show the world your outstanding resilience in these circumstances. Keep pushing, keep moving, keep going.

Staffordshire Council of Voluntary Youth Services supported local young people to participate in a visit to Kiyv in 2013, meeting and sharing dialogue with young people from the host country, Ukraine, as well as Russia, Turkey, Belarus and the U.K.

This kind of opportunities for cultural exchange, leads to a growing understanding of what unites us as humanity, and helps us focus on the important elements that transcend language, culture, nationality, colour and creed.

Friendships remain from that visit 9 years ago, as do memories and experiences. These ensure that we continue to carry a torch for peace, and that we stand in solidarity with those for whom their freedom is threatened.

I can’t begin to imagine what it is like for young people living with invasion and the constant threat of violence, whether in Ukraine, Syria or any other place affected by warfare. Children and young people everywhere deserve to grow up in safety, surrounded by love and support. Adult society and politicians must learn to resolve their differences with care and responsibility for those who they disagree and not just those who they claim to represent. this often means giving up on the past, on grudges and thinking more about the future and every person’s potential to grow and better the world. We would like to send love and solidarity to everyone in Ukraine and to anyone affected by war and invasion across the world.

I am truly saddened by recent events in Ukraine.
I had the opportunity to visit Ukraine i.n 2011 leading a delegation from North West England including youth workers and young people as part of the British Council Active Citizens programme. We all had an amazing time visiting Kyiv, Lvi, Zhymerinka, Zhadachiv, Zhytomyr and Shepetivka.
The inspiration of that visit lives long in the memory and continues to do so and inspire. The kind hospitality of those shown to us in Ukraine was amazing and we were blessed with youth workers and community volunteers also coming over to visit us in St Helens and NW England too. You are in our thoughts always and stand in solidarity. (The photo attached was taken in Ozerne near Zhytomyr from our visit. )
