The NYA Youth Work Academy launched on the 8th March 2019 as a collaborative learning space dedicated to training and development in the youth work sector.

The Academy will provide a mixture of accredited training and CPD workshops to offer a calendar of low cost training to NYA Network members aimed at developing either Skilled Practitioners or Effective Managers and Leaders. The first training to be offered will be Child Criminal Exploitation, Violence and County Lines which will run in three locations in April. A wider catalogue of training will be rolled out in the coming weeks.

Skilled Practitioner training

Skilled Practitioner training enables workers and volunteers to apply practical tools to their workplace to achieve real change. The issues facing young people are constantly evolving and practitioners have a responsibility to keep up to date with those issues and how best to support young people as they work through them.

Effective Managers and Leaders training

Effective Managers and Leaders training provides supervisors and managers with the skills and behaviours to transform their own and their team’s performance.

Katy Fielding, Assistant Director of Operations at NYA said “Our vision with the NYA Youth Work Academy is to provide high quality, low cost, and up-to-date training for individuals and organisations working with young people. We believe that young people deserve the best support possible, and that equipping practitioners and youth workers with high quality skills is the best way to achieve that.”

The NYA Youth Work Academy can be accessed now.
