Major Boost to Recruit a New Cohort of Youth Workers

A major new Youth Worker Bursary Fund has been announced by NYA as part of a national initiative to open up career pathways in youth work. In its first year the fund will widen access and secure youth work training with up to 450 bursaries (Levels 2 & 3) working through the NYA’s regional partners.

The NYA is accepting expressions of interest now, ready for 2020 and 2021 courses.

NYA Chief Executive Leigh Middleton said:

NYA is delighted to open a new fund for youth work training. Investing in people and growing the youth workforce is critical to rebuild youth services across the country. The bursaries will open the door to a new generation taking their first steps to become a qualified youth worker. This goes hand in glove with our national review of the curriculum and qualifications for professional youth workers and trained volunteers. It is a fitting legacy of this year’s Youth Work Week which has showcased just how inspirational and rewarding youth work can be, transforming young people’s lives.”

Please be aware that bursaries awarded in the East Midlands and South East regions or on the Fylde Coast are going through a slightly different process than the other regions. If you would like to be considered for a bursary in the South East, East Midlands or North West, please download the form and submit to academy@nya.org.uk
