Supported by the National Youth Agency (NYA), the British Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal has set up a central site for youth workers, youth groups and sector organisations to donate funding raised to support humanitarian aid for the people affected by the conflict in Ukraine. Youth projects and young people are invited to raise funds to support the Red Cross’ response in Ukraine and neighbouring countries.

Leigh Middleton, NYA Chief Executive commented,

Youth work is universal and it is transformational. Together we must unite to help people impacted by the crisis in Ukraine during these horrific times.  Partnering with the British Red Cross will allow the youth sector with one voice to show its support.

The collaboration with the British Red Cross follows the launch of a dedicated set of online resources by NYA for youth workers and a creative space with young people to help navigate conversations about the conflict in Ukraine, and to share messages of support for young people and youth workers and their families in Ukraine. Click here to visit resource hub.

Mike Adamson, British Red Cross Chief Executive said:

Around 4,000 Ukrainian Red Cross volunteers are helping communities with first aid, warm clothes, food and shelter. In neighbouring countries, Red Cross volunteers are supporting thousands of people who have crossed the border. Volunteers and staff will continue to work closely with affected communities, whoever and wherever they are. We are grateful to the NYA for its support towards our response.

Notes to Editors

British Red Cross

For more than 150 years, the British Red Cross has helped people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. We are part of a global voluntary network, responding to conflicts, natural disasters and individual emergencies. We enable vulnerable people in the UK and abroad to prepare for and withstand emergencies in their own communities. And when the crisis is over, we help them recover and move on with their lives. redcross.org.uk
