The National Youth Agency (NYA) is delighted to announce that Mr Leigh Middleton has been appointed as its new Managing Director.
Leigh, who is 39, has a 20-year career working in the youth sector and is a qualified professional youth worker.
Leigh said “Being appointed as the Managing Director of the NYA is the greatest privilege of my professional life. Throughout my career I’ve promoted the benefits and virtues of youth work as a methodology for engaging young people. The role of the NYA has never been more important. We are at a point of social and political change and the need to support young people across the country is growing.
I am grateful to the Board for trusting me to take the agency into the next exciting phase of its development.”
Michael Bracey, Chair of the NYA, said “Over the last six months we have been working on a programme to modernise and improve the NYA and the appointment of a permanent Managing Director is an important part of this work.
“Developments include new governance arrangements with trustees Barbara Bradley and former youth service leader Carol Stone being appointed as Vice Chairs, and the further strengthening of our management team with Amanda Fearn appointed Development Director and Keith Ambrose Finance and Operations Director.
“Particular thanks go to Paul Miller for all his work supporting the NYA to make these important changes.”
Leigh, who will start at the NYA in the next few months, is currently a Children, Schools and Families commissioning manager at Surrey County Council.
