Student Volunteers

Volunteering can be an ideal way to fill your time, both during term time as a break from study or during the summer months. Not only will you get a chance to improve your skills and meet new people but also help others inside and out of your institution's community - what better way to feel like part of the community as you settle into student life?

Most universities and some FE colleges have student volunteering groups which make it easy for you to access opportunities locally or join existing projects. Many student volunteering groups are part of a wider network of HE/FE volunteering groups - this provides an opportunity for groups to meet up to discuss ideas, share best practice, and collaborate on even bigger, more ambitious, joint projects.

If you are thinking of taking a gap year/month before, during or after higher education volunteering can be an excellent way to gain experience and new skills.
