Climate change

Over the past 30 years the number of extreme weather events such as floods, droughts, storms and heat waves has trebled world wide.

These dramatic changes have also caused the sea levels to rise, threatened wildlife, reduced the amount of safe drinking water and increased the spread of disease.

Britain is experiencing some of the worst flooding there has ever been. Some people believe that the increase in car use (burning fossil fuels such as petrol) has had a direct impact on our environment. If you would like to know more about any of these issues see the organisations listed here.

Tackling Climate Change

Friends of the Earth state that climate change is the most serious threat facing humanity [and that] the government must face up to the urgency and scale of the problem.
