Solihull Youth Opportunity Fund (YOF) Forum - - Young Researcher Network 2010/11 grant winners
We are the Solihull Youth Opportunity Fund (YOF) Forum, one of the projects supported by Solihull Youth Service Active Involvement & Democracy Team. We currently have 10 members and are based at the Solihull Youth Workshops in central Solihull.
We are planning a research project to identify and measure the impact that the withdrawal of Youth Opportunity Funding has had, and will have on the provision of things to do and places to go for young people in Solihull.
We hope to involve groups of young people who have already received funding for their projects along with groups whose applications have been rejected due to funding cuts. We will use a questionnaire along with a ‘vox box’ type interview to engage young people and obtain personal stories of how they have been affected.
We will present our research findings to our own local authority as a case for why YOF funding should still be ring fenced for young people’s activities but we hope the report will have value for other authorities. YOF has been a funding stream for young people all over the country and we hope this research will reflect the impact funding cuts have on all young people.
