Help with Debt

Where can I get help?

It is important to address your money problems early. Letting things get out of hand makes it harder to put everything right.

Arrange to meet with a money adviser. Contacting a debt adviser through your bank if you have multiple debts may not be the best option. It is best to seek independent advice. They will be happy to review your finances and see if there is anything you can do to manage your money better. For example, an adviser may suggest you open a separate account at the bank for all of your monthly/weekly standing orders and other payments that you make.

Also contact the organisations that you are having difficulty paying. This maybe utility companies such as water, electricity or gas. Each of these companies will have payment plans that you can do to help you spread the cost of paying bills. Credit card companies may also be able to help you if you can't make the minimum monthly payment.

There are also a number of agencies and advice centres offering help for young people with money problems.
