Product Description
Between 2002 and 2004, filmmaker Joe Magee worked with young people in Bristol’s Knowle West Estate to make the three films, named Gearhead, Fruit Loop and Clot. Each is an independent story, though they unite together to form a coherent whole, with shared characters, approaches and values.
The films, together running to 25 minutes, are set on an English housing estate and each features a character suffering some form of alienation as a result of addictive behaviour. Gearhead presents a day in the life of a heroin addict, while Fruit Loop looks at the problems associated with a fruit machine obsession. Finally, Clot explores how a clean living teenager becomes detached from his peers because his behaviour is out of joint with theirs, ultimately questioning what constitutes ‘normal’ behaviour. Packaged with support material, including discussion starters, this DVD is a perfect way to raise a range of issues with young people.
