Good Practice Guide for Youth Workers and Youth Services – Special Educational Needs and Disability Act 2001

Good Practice Guide for Youth Workers and Youth Services – Special Educational Needs and Disability Act 2001

    £6.50

This guide aims to provide an accessible reference for youth workers to the Special Educational Needs and Disability Act.

    Product Description

Steve Beebee and Terry Cane (2002)

The Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Act places two fundamental duties on all education authorities when they provide youth services – the duty not to treat a disabled person less favourably than they would treat a non-disabled person, and the duty to make reasonable adjustments to prevent disabled people from being placed at a substantial disadvantage.

This good practice guide aims to provide an accessible reference for youth workers. It will help them to meet the terms of the Act and will hopefully inspire them to go beyond mere compliance with the law and work towards eliminating discrimination against disabled people in their service altogether.
