The narrative of the report makes depressing reading - young people in Knowsley are getting a rough deal, yet young people's own views suggest they remain optimistic, enthusiastic, aspirational and, suprisingly, the happiest young people in the UK. 70 per cent of Knowsley's young people say they feel 'self-confident' and the same number say they are 'people who get things done'. They also report a very strong sense of place and community.
