1 in 5 young people 'confused about illegal downloading'

The results show that for many, the distinction between copyright infringing sources and legitimate content sources is blurred, with 20 per cent agreeing with a statement that they access so much content for free (such as on iPlayer and YouTube) that they don't see why they should ever pay for content. Other areas of the survey cast doubt on the popularity of social networking sites. The areas where young people said the internet had most improved everyday life were education and business opportunities (71 per cent and 72 per cent believing it had made these better), much more than areas like making friends (52 per cent).
