Fight for the Write to be Heard
14 January 2011
The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, launches a competition to get young people talking about serious matters.
Quite a few of us have the experience from time to time of turning up something we wrote when we were a lot younger – a school essay or speech, perhaps even a letter about some important matter. Granted that the first reaction may well be (it usually is with me) a bit of cringing – how on earth did I manage to be that sure about anything? – a second reaction is quite likely to be how glad I am that there were people to encourage me to think out loud, to test ideas and feel confident that they’d be taken seriously..
