Young carers reveal school bullying ordeal

Some 39 per cent of the 700 six to 18-year-olds surveyed said there was not a single teacher at their school who knew they were a young carer. Many also said they felt unsupported or misunderstood by teachers when they became tired or missed homework deadlines because of their responsibilities.
