Neglected children singled out by peers

The study found that 44 per cent of children under 12 have seen other children who were dirty, while nearly two-thirds of children have seen suspected signs of neglect among their peers in classrooms, playgrounds, neighbourhoods and activity clubs. When asked how they felt peers treated these youngsters, 46 per cent said neglected children were bullied, 40 per cent said others were mean to them and 41 per cent said they would be laughed at.
