Young Voices.... Mature Views

16 November 2010

The Centre for Excellence and Outcomes in Children and Young People's Services (C4EO) has launched a ‘micro site’ aimed at helping children and young people understand the work that C4EO does and to give a better understanding of present best practice, enabling them to know what to expect from services.

The micro site, Children and Young People’s Views on C4EO, breaks down each of the themes covered by C4EO, explaining them in terms that are accessible to children and young people.

Each section includes:

  • views from children and young people
  • key messages from the research
  • links to reports and websites if you want to know more.

Professionals working with children and young people will also find it extremely beneficial, as it can present them with a platform to lead discussions around difficult topics. It also provides a place to steer young people who want to participate more in society giving information about where to go next.

All web pages include insightful quotes from many different children and young people in different situations. These along with their views, give a better understanding of the issues faced by young people, why young people and their families are sometimes reluctant to take up public services and what would be more effective ways of engaging them.

C4EO believe that children and young people's views matter greatly if children's services are to improve and as part of their work want to listen to and incorporate the views of children and young people in the work of themes.
