Future Strategies for Youth Work

15 April 2011

The National Youth Agency (NYA) and the Young Foundation, working together with the Local Government Association, held an expert seminar this week to discuss future strategies for informing investment in youth work.

The event, which attracted over 50 participants, shared emerging findings from scoping research undertaken by the NYA and Young Foundation to test the feasibility of new models of social financing for youth work, and to build the case for investment. Discussions focused particularly on understanding and articulating both the value and impact of youth work.

The seminar was chaired by Geoff Mulgan, with panellists Charlie Green of Private Equity Foundation, and Fiona Blacke of the National Youth Agency. The audience represented key stakeholders from across the youth sector, alongside experts in social finance, central and local government, universities and research organisations.

The seminar will shape the next phase of development in the project, and feed into a framework for ‘calculating’ value in order to inform investment.
