National Youth Agency and Local Government Association to Host Transforming Services for Young People Event

The National Youth Agency and Local Government Association are hosting an essential one day event to discuss, reflect on and explore the shape and provision of services for young people at this time of unprecedented change.

To be held on 20 January 2011, ‘Hard Times: Great Expectations – Transforming Services for Young People’ will give Lead Members with responsibility for Children's Services, Directors/Associate Directors of Children's Services, and Heads of Service the chance to contribute to debates about youth provision in the new post-Spending Review  landscape.

Participants will hear from a number of high profile speakers, including key policy and decision makers, young people and local authorities, and have the opportunity to take part in debate and discussion about the future shape of youth services and their relationship with Big Society and the community, and changing role of local authorities.

The event will be held in at Local Government House, Smith Square, London, SW1P 3HZ and is FREE, with places prioritised for elected members and officers with a maximum of two per local authority. A small number of places will be reserved for voluntary and community sector, and private sector delegates.
