Young people not pressured into sex
08 September 2010
The findings, based on interviews with more than 600 14-to 16-year-olds and health practitioners about their behaviour and attitudes about sex, found 51 per cent reported having had no sexual experience, while 84 per cent of those who have had sex said being in a relationship was the main reason for choosing to do so. The findings challenge popular perceptions that young people have sex because they get drunk or are pressured.
