More children need to be placed in care, says Barnardo's boss

Speaking about the publication of a report funded by Barnardos, he also said that there should be greater use of residential care, as an alternative to placing challenging children with a succession of foster families. Almost three-quarters of look-after children are in foster care, compared to 13 per cent in residential settings. Research for the report involved statistical analysis as well as interviews with foster parents, children in care and young people who had been in care.
