One in 10 children suffer abuse, say experts

A series of papers published in the Lancet medical journal claims that one in 10 children suffers physical, sexual, emotional abuse or neglect, and that most maltreated children are not even referred to the authorities.

It states that teachers, GPs and paediatricians also have no confidence in the ability of social services to make a difference and that more research is needed to determine what will prevent a child being abused.  Read more>>
