Stabbings: Pupils ask for training in first aid
17 Oct 2008
The TES reports that one of the recommendations made by a major enquiry into youth disaffection is for schools should offer lessons in first aid so that pupils know how to cope if they come across someone who has been shot or stabbed.
Young people were interviewed for the investigation undertaken by the Nuffield 14-19 Review and youth charity Rathbone. It found that they saw the risk of being a victim of crime as 'an inherent and omnipresent aspect of their daily lives' . Other young people were drawn to join gangs in search for a sense of belonging akin to family life according to the enquiry.
