The NYA seeks new Chair
Are you a charismatic, passionate and engaging leader, a diplomat, an ideas-person and a good listener?
We are looking for a new chair, following the retirement of Bishop Roger Sainsbury. We need someone with a proven commitment to young people who is passionate about improving their lives. You will have a track record working at the highest levels in the public, voluntary or private sectors, sharp political acumen and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people. You will also have knowledge of the charity sector and experience of quality assurance, risk management and audit processes.
The National Youth Agency (NYA) is the national expert and developmental organisation supporting those who work with young people in England. Our job is to make sure the Agency, providers of services, and policymakers at local and national levels get it right for young people. The Agency also incorporates Youth Access, a separate organisation in the field of youth counselling and The NYA Board also acts as the Board for Youth Access. The NYA’s main office is in Leicester. You can find out more about us by visiting our website http://www.nya.org.uk/
As well as chairing our Executive Board and ensuring it fulfils its responsibilities for the governance of The NYA, you will also work with the Chief Executive to optimise the relationship between the Board, the Executive, staff and stakeholders. You will serve as a spokesperson and promoter of the charity and of young people’s interests wherever you can.
This is a voluntary post without remuneration. Any associated travel and subsistence expenses will be reimbursed. If you are interested and would like an informal discussion please contact Fiona Blacke, Chief Executive on 0116 242 7385.
