Summary: music facilities for children and young people aged 8 to 21 in a converted factory

Capital costs: £300,000 for the conversion

Revenue costs: approximately £160,000 p.a.

Staffing: the staff team consists of a senior worker, a youth music development worker, a music worker responsible for the drop-in work, a sound engineer and four part-time tutors teaching drums, piano, guitar and singing.

Distinctive features

Design: strong use of colours and features such as open ventilation pipes give the centre a vibrant contemporary feel.

Specialist music project which focuses both on skills development and music as a means to bring young people together, enable them to express emotion and develop relationships with adults.

Young people involved at all appropriate levels, and kept informed about developments when direct involvement is not possible or appropriate.
