Summary: Flagship PFI ‘Community Hub’ new build opened in 2002 incorporating purpose build youth and sports provision, situated in the top 10 per cent of deprived wards in England.

Capital costs: total cost of £10.7 million, including approximately £375,000 for the youth centre and football pitches, plus £200,000 for fixtures, fittings and equipment.

Revenue costs: youth centre revenue costs of approximately 400,000 p.a.

Staffing: a full-time locality youth worker, 10 sessional youth workers, receptionist/administrator, two coffee bar assistants and volunteers and student placements.

Youth provision within a community learning and resources centre.

Award-winning Private Finance Initiative project.

Focus on developing partnerships to extend opportunities for young people and make full use of provision.
