Training Events

The NYA Quality Mark Team is organising some training events for autumn 2008. Thank you to everyone who completed the on-line events survey, your comments are being considered by the team as they plan the training. The types of training events that will be on offer are detailed below:

  • Getting Started on the self-assessment

This type of event is aimed at organisations that have just begun to look at the self-assessment and require some guidance about how to complete it. The event will enable delegates to understand the framework and provide small group exercises to demonstrate scoring levels and what might count as evidence.

  • Evidencing Impact in the self-assessment

This type of event is aimed at organisations already working on the self-assessment to assist with recording evidence. It will give delegates the opportunity to share information and expertise with other organisations, identify strategies for improvement and use small group exercises to demonstrate how to identify and document evidence. Delegates are encouraged to bring examples that they have already started putting together from their own self-assessment

The Quality Mark Team is holding an Evidencing Impact in the Quality Mark self-assessment training event on 18th November in Birmingham. The event will be co-facilitated by Sue Quinn, Quality Mark Development Officer and Wendy Flint, one of the Quality Mark assessors. The event costs £95 per delegate statutory and commercial sector and £75 per delegate voluntary sector organisations.

  • Preparing for the National Award

This type of event is aimed at organisations that have been working through the self-assessment and are ready to apply for the National Award within the next 6 months. It will be expected that delegates will have at least part completed their self-assessment and are expecting to achieve an established position. Delegates will have the chance to understand the process for the National Award accreditation, be clear on how to present the self-assessment and have more understanding on the level of evidence required. One of the facilitators at this event will be a Quality Mark assessor.

The Quality Mark Team is holding a Preparing for the National Award event on 16th September at The NYA in Leicester. This event is designed to support organisations who are preparing for the Quality Mark National Award within the following six months. The event will be co-facilitated by Sue Quinn, Quality Mark Development Officer and Bryan Merton, one of the Quality Mark assessors. It will also feature Amanda Waters, Youth Service Development Manager from Nottingham City Youth Service who will share her team’s experience of going through the National Award process and achieving the Award. The event costs £70 per delegate statutory and commercial sector and £50 per delegate voluntary sector organisations.
