Kerry YoungKerry is primarily interested in how people and systems work together to create learning organisations that continually develop individual and collective commitment, creativity and capacity. Linked to this, is an interest in how values, ethics and notions of social justice are translated into organisational policy, provision and practice.

Kerry has worked as a consultant, researcher and writer since 1987. During this time she has completed numerous reviews, evaluations, audits and action research projects for a wide range of clients including local authorities, voluntary organisations, public bodies, partnership boards, NHS and central government departments.

In the process, she has helped many organisations to review structures and systems, evaluate projects and programmes, research aspects of provision and practice, and develop and implement policies and strategies (e.g. curriculum; quality assurance; staff development; staff supervision). Kerry also undertakes writing commissions (e.g. information and resource packs, self-directed learning materials, conference papers and reports, case studies, training support materials, practice development materials).

Kerry started youth work as a detached youth worker for Oxfordshire County Council. In 1981, she became the Information Development Officer in the Youth Work Unit at the National Youth Bureau and in 1984 the Assistant Girls' Work Officer at the National Association of Youth Clubs (now UK Youth). From 1991 to 1992 she was Assistant Director at The National Youth Agency. Kerry has written extensively on various aspects of youth work, most notably 'The Art of Youth Work' (1999). Second edition, 2006.

Kerry is a qualified youth worker with a Masters degree in Organisation Development (University of Loughborough) and a PhD from De Montfort University (Youth Work: Core Purpose, Principles and Practice).
