Pete Stout's biography
Pete has over 35 years experience in work with and for young people. He has specialised in work with some of the most marginalised communities. Pete has developed a huge array of cutting edge projects designed to both engage with and motivate communities to build a more cohesive society. He has wide experience in working within local government structures, the voluntary sector and more recently in the private sector. It is Pete's aim to ensure total client satisfaction for each and every contract that he undertakes. His experience of working across complex agencies, structures and partnerships is one of his many skills. Pete brings enthusiasm, focus, experience and good humour to every task, he has the ability to motivate, encourage and challenge both individuals and groups.
His first love has always been and continues to be youth work and youth led initiatives, he is MD of Consulting @ Inn-ovation Partners Co Ltd a specialist youth focused consultancy. Pete is a former social worker, juvenile justice worker, detached youth worker, community educator and was Principal Community Education Officer, Gateshead Council. He now works freelance on youth related issues supporting a range of initiatives locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. A professionally qualified Youth and Community Worker, Teacher and Local Government Administrator, Pete is also a trained Ofsted Youth Work and Connexions Additional Inspector, Vice Chair of the Commonwealth Youth Exchange Council and Chair of its Grants Committee, Director of the North East Youth Work Unit, and a Fellow of Sunderland University. He is also an approved learning, development and research contractor to the Central Police Training and Development Authority, Bramshill. Pete has written a substantial number of youth focused training manuals, policy, curriculum and strategy documents as well as position papers. He is an expert on youth engagement and inclusion programmes particularly in multi ethnic, multi national settings.
His client list includes local authorities, voluntary agencies, universities and national agencies.
More recently he has been developing a range of innovative solutions to meet the many challenges implicit within the Hear By Right Standards, the five outcomes of Every Child Matters and raising awareness around Youth Matters. Preparing youth services for inspection and undertaking detailed health checks, involving a full service approach has proved to be extremely beneficial for local authorities. Pete has also worked with a range of authorities post inspection and advised on organisational development, restructuring, redefining and evaluating whole services as well as focusing on particular aspects or priorities.
