Currently, Tessa is working on a long running contract with the South West Regional Youth Work Unit, supporting youth work across the region in meeting the opportunities and challenges of integrated youth support services.
As part of this work, Tessa convenes a forum of youth workers/ managers working on accrediting young people’s achievement, to share good practice and develop learning across the region. She also runs the Regional Unit’s Operating Agency for the Youth Achievement Awards. Recently Tessa organised the Regional Unit’s annual conference on ‘Youth Matters’
Other clients include Bristol Youth and Play Service, for whom Tessa developed a revised curriculum and a sex and relationships policy, and The National Youth Agency, for whom Tessa built on work done locally to develop an approach to needs assessment by writing a needs assessment framework called Firm Foundations.
Tessa also works on organisational development issues. For Poole Children’s Trust Tessa worked to assist groups across the Trust to develop a shared approach to the C&YP’s workforce. In Devonport, Plymouth, Tessa worked with the Voice of Devonport resident’s association on a feasibility study for a new Youth House, responding to needs expressed by young people.
Tessa worked for five years at Shelter, the National Campaign for Homeless People. She was the Project Manager for a UK wide educational initiative, working to prevent homelessness in young people. Tessa has a background in marketing and fundraising for the voluntary sector.
