Youth Work Week - 1-7 November 2008
Theme for 2008 - Promoting Young People's Voice and Influence
The NYA and 11 MILLION are pleased to announce that the second-ever Takeover Day will now take place on 7 November, creating a climax to Youth Work Week 2008 with its theme of “Promoting the Voice and Influence of Young People”. Last year’s 11 MILLION Takeover Day saw young people all over the country given the chance to participate in and comment on some of the institutions that affect their daily lives, including local authorities, business, health services and the media. Further information on plans for both Youth Work Week and Takeover Day 2008 will be available soon.

YWW blog - keeping you up to date
The NYA has launched a new blog to stimulate and reflect activity around Youth Work Week 2008, 1 to7 November 2008.
The blog will include ideas for the week and gives everyone a chance to add comments, ask questions and get into debates around its theme of Promoting the Voice and Influence of Young People. There will be regular pieces from a variety of National Youth Agency staff reflecting on relevant issues and as the week approaches it will also carry details of local activities for the week and the linked event of Takeover Day on 7 November. The blog can found accessed through the home page of The NYA website or at: http://blogs.nya.org.uk/yww2008 .
About YWW 2008
One of the distinctive contributions of youth work is to help young people to have more control over their lives. Whether it’s about the running of their own clubs and projects or having much wider influence over public services, youth work plays a key role in enabling young people to make a contribution. All youth organisations are invited to use Youth Work Week 2008 to reflect on, celebrate and to further develop the way in which they help young people to use their voices and exercise influence.
The NYA will produce an information pack for the week by July. In the meantime check back here occasionally as we’ll be adding more information in due course.
