Take GCSEs bit by bit then have a year’s rest

Changes to the GCSE qualification have been announced with claims that it will create a modularised system.

Changes include each unit being assesed as soon as it is completed with one chance to resit, sitting exams early, young people being able to take a years break between GCSE's and A levels and coursework being carried out under controlled environments rather than at home.
