Decision on cervical cancer vaccine is false economy, say health groups

The Government's decision to purchase a cervical cancer vaccine that does not give protection against another sexually transmitted disease has been critised by charities involved in sexual health.

The alternative vaccine on offer would also give protection against genital warts, figures of which are rising steeply particularly amongst young people. The mass vaccination of young girls will begin in September.
