The Workforce Development Self-Assessment Framework is a new publication that encompasses the elements of effective workforce development planning, and guides an organisation through a process of developing a policy framework.

Linking to The NYA Quality Mark, it enables organisations to focus on the Workforce standard of the Quality Mark.

Dealing with recruitment, retention, training and the continuous professional development of youth workers. Following on from the recommendations of the Transforming Youth Work Warwick Conference in 2002 the Workforce Development Implementation Group worked on the next phase. Its report was welcomed by Margaret Hodge, Minister for Children and Young People.

The NYA has produced guidelines and self-assessment framework to help organisations providing youth work services to create a workforce development policy and seek NYA accreditation. An accredited workforce development policy is now one of the recognised characteristics of a good quality youth service, in line with the Government's Resourcing Excellent Youth Services agenda.
