Volunteering

The NYA has a long track record supporting youth volunteering and 'youth action'. As an organisation it occupies a unique structural position - able to influence policy and practice across the youth work sector and the volunteering world. The following provides an outline of the current priorities for The NYA's Youth Action Team plus details of the latest developments and published resources.

Young People's Volunteering and Skills Development

Between October 2006 and March 2007 The National Youth Agency undertook a short research project for the Department for Education and Skills to explore the skills, knowledge and attitudinal development that young people derive from volunteering. The project combined fieldwork with young volunteers (and workers) in 30 diverse projects throughout England with a review of relevant literature.
