Police may be given powers to question child suspects alone

The Home Office is proposing to allow the police to question children and young people without their parents or other relative being present.

The review of PACE, the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 includes the proposal that an 'appropriate adult' would be sufficient during interviews with children and young people.
