Struggling schools risk losing funds

Struggling secondary schools will learn this week if they could be forced to close by the end of the year amid accusations that the government is abandoning them.

Schools which fail to get 30 per cent of students through five good GCSEs may have to begin the process of converting to academies before Christmas.
