All the materials and resources in this section are tried, tested and used by The National Youth Agency and are available here for free.

The Hear by Right standards and the tools developed to compliment are under the Book and Tools panel. The Hear by Right standards framework is based on the 7 S model of organisational change: Shared values, Strategies, Structures, Systems, Staff, Skills and knowledge and Style of leadership. It relies on self- assessment across three levels: emerging, established land advanced. Each level builds on the last. This ensure that children and young people's involvement is built in and not just bolted on. For more information on the Hear by Right Standards please follow this link.

The Building Standards resources can be used to make the original Hear by Right Participation standards accessible to young people. The full resource pack along with a briefing paper and presentation are available on the site. More information on using the Building Standards framework please follow this link.

The powerpoint presentations can be downloaded and can be viewed online beforehand.

All of our training resources which we use daily in participation training have been made available.

You can view the downloads listings on one page here, or you can browse in more detail here.

Hear by Right Resources

The resources available in this section are the core resources from the Hear by Right toolkit.

Hear by Right Book and tools

  • Hear by Right Book 2008

  • What's Changed Tool
This tool links with the Hear by Right Mapping and Planning tool and records the most important evidence of change, which is that from the children and young people themselves. It is essential that they tell their story in their words of evidence of dialogue and evidence of change.
  • What's Changed Tool Children and Young People's Version
Whereas the What's Changed Organisation version tool focuses upon the shared dialogue between the organisation, young people and the wider community, this version allows young people to share their experiences of campaigning for change and enables them to comment upon what has directly changed for them because of their active participation.
