Jean Spence and Carol Devanney (2006)

This research is the culmination of two years work and has been undertaken during a time in which the tension between policy and key youth work principles is beginning to impact upon the practice environment. It makes a move towards articulating the voice of practice in order to draw attention to those aspects of youth work which youth workers and young people most value and which make it successful. In doing this, the research considers how the multi-faceted and complex nature of youth work practice can thrive in the context of its responsibilities towards externally defined objectives.
